Significantly Increases Customer Satisfaction with All Purpose Application Results Automated 75% of all administrative activities A web version and native mobile application available in the App Stores A central back-office connecting all portals via a no-code platform A flexible business When Tence Inzetbureau was acquired by the Belgium employment organization Actief Groep in 2015, it was renamed "Actief Werkt!" Actief Werkt! is an employment agency that connects flexible work-seekers to jobs in sectors such as logistics, manufacturing, and cleaning operations. Actief Werkt! provided Flex@lly, an online client portal that was no longer in line with the new direction the company was heading. In order to service clients more personally and directly, a new mobile application needed to be devised. As orders have significantly risen over the last years, they could no longer be properly processed by the agency’s existing platform. Hence Actief Werkt! called upon the Betty Blocks rapid application development platform to create a new client- and flex worker portal that could be accessed through a responsive web and native mobile application. The experiences gained while working on Flex@lly would form the inspiration for this new client portal, called Mijn Actief. “Betty Blocks' high level of involvement and personal contact made it a great collaboration. We saved a lot of time thanks to efficient communication and building upon the existing application, which made the process very fast.” Building on legacies Based on the user statistics and prior experiences with Flex@lly, Betty Blocks partner EsperantoXL could easily determine which functionalities should be incorporated into the new application. The biggest challenge was building the new portals and the application itself on top of the existing IT architecture. By integrating all the portals into one central back office, all parties could easily continue to cooperate. Through no-code development platform Betty Blocks, EsperantoXL would efficiently extend the system. The no-code platform enabled them to connect the web- and mobile application in a matter of days. With these foundations in place, EsperantoXL could now design and install the rest of the client portal. The process The portals for Mijn Actief were built in less than 2.5 months. Clients can now log in to view information on flex workers, invoices and work activities. Flex workers can use the app to see their payslips, update their resume and directly apply for new job positions. As all relevant information is now available for them to access online, Actief Werkt! quickly noticed a drop in the amount of incoming telephone calls. Flex workers are now able to do all their administrative work in the online environment. Since the new application was launched, Mijn Actief has gained more than 10.000 unique users. Development facts One all-encompassing back-office system was made in the Betty Blocks platform over the course of 2.5 months. This includes a client portal and a multi-device application for flex workers. Development time 2.5 months Development hours 200 Building blocks used 524 Features of the Mijn Actief portal Multi-device ready An application that is optimized for every type of device Central and secure database All relevant user information is safely stored and accessible through the portal A no-code powered system Upgrades can be directly applied by citizen developers The results Actief Werkt! set out to get more engagement and establish a better overview for its users through Mijn Actief. Since the application was launched, Actief Werkt! noticed a significant increase in customer satisfaction. Thanks to the more direct approach of the application - including new push notification options - flex workers are better informed about the latest news and developments.Team members of Actief Werkt! can now manage their own software through the Betty Blocks platform. They can directly fix any errors occurring within the system. For example, when a user is unable to login, Actief Werkt! doesn’t need EsperantoXL to resolve the problem. And since the web and mobile version of the application were built within the same platform, the software can easily be adapted and upgraded. But, behind the scenes is another team dedicated to enriching the lives of Atlanta’s youth one tour at a time. Headed by Tour Education Program Manager Dawn Brown, the stadium’s STEAM tours are playing a major role in the education of thousands of students and are a major business draw for the stadium. Brown and her team took great care to ensure the STEAM Tours would be a fully GSE (Georgia Standards of Excellence) compliant curriculum that takes part in and around the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Through local schools, STEAM’s tours bring in a great deal of traffic to the stadium and play a vital role in generating new business outside of the soccer club.Focusing on the subjects of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math, it’s a program that presents real-world value to a diverse range of students. Even with the state-of-the-art resources available within the stadium, STEAM relied heavily on teachers to bring the curriculum to life.“Educators really needed to dive into the PDF materials themselves,” explains Dawn. “Without mastering the pre-game, classes of 30+ students will never be fully engaged on a personal level.” “In just 3 months we had an application in our hands which could get kids in touch with the environment, not just stand in it.” Real-world dilemma Dawn needed a solution that would capture the attention of individual students while preserving the quality, content, and focus of their curriculum. She set about hatching a plan for a new, ‘future-first’ solution to re-imagine STEAM as an interactive experience. One which reached out to youngsters on familiar grounds: their own mobile phones. Already familiar with Betty Blocks, an existing partner of Atlanta United FC and the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Dawn turned to them to set her plan in motion.Betty Blocks product specialist Jasper Afman got started right away with an outline for STEAM’s new mobile app. Eager to put the new application to use, Dawn set a goal to deliver the final product in 4 months (little did she know, Jasper would finish in 3). Development facts Mobile educational application with tours to fully engage the children in the community. Development time 3 months Development hours 35 Building blocks used 100 STEAM power meets technology A mobile application proved to be more than ideal for the Betty Blocks developers. Having access to the technology available on modern mobile devices provided all the resources they would need for the project. With access to the camera, keyboard, and user inputs the team was quickly able to get a working prototype together with no-code. In fact, everything they needed was in place within a month of developing, the real challenge was finding out how to engage a student. Something the Betty Blocks developers aren’t exactly familiar with...No-code gave Dawn the opportunity to collaborate with the team, injecting educational knowledge between the technical aspect of the application. “I was kept in the loop throughout the whole process with regular opportunities to provide feedback and check-in.” As development continued, Dawn’s solution quickly took shape with smarter, more purpose-driven features being implemented daily.“In just 3 months we had an application in our hands which could get kids in touch with the environment, not just stand in it.” Following a short trial period, STEAM’s new mobile application quickly proved its power to engage tech-native youths. No longer would Dawn’s team be reading PDFs aloud, they’re leading fully interactive exhibits. “We’re a future-forward stadium, the STEAM Tours were missing an interactive technology piece to our puzzle.” Dawn Brown, Tour Education Program Manager at the Mercedes-Benz Statium Key features of the application Engagement Integrated questionnaires and real-time feedback with both images and text. Mobile program Native mobile tours on different topics to teach students about science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. Digital trophies Students get digital trophies for each completed course, rewarding them for their efforts at every step. A stadium changing lives Today, tour guides have much more freedom, flexibility, and opportunities to reach individual students or fully explore topics. Their modernized tour is no longer a one-way street either! Students taking part in tours can take questionnaires, answer questions, and provide feedback in real-time with both images and text. Ultimately, Atlanta United and the STEAM tour aims to guide celebrate knowledge and encourage this generation to pursue their interests in a unique way. Part of that is providing digital trophies for each completed course, rewarding students for their efforts at every step.Moving their current curriculum to a digital platform is only the tip of the iceberg for Dawn, the stadium, and her team. “As we continue to update, innovate and bring in new materials into the stadium, STEAM will always be changing just as we are. Technology like this gives an opportunity for the Mercedes-Benz Stadium to expand our business lines even further.” Start aligning business and IT Experience the impact of Betty Blocks on your innovation goals in a 30 minute demo based on your business case Platform Platform tour Plans and pricing Get a demo No-code platform Low-code platform Integrations Why Betty Blocks Why Betty Blocks? You've probably heard horror stories about governments trying to develop projects themselves, only to end up in a bigger mess than they started- and billions of dollars in the hole. "Governments aren't used to making their own software", says Tom Uleman, City of Zaanstad Senior Information Manager. As a result, common practice is to look for a standardized SaaS package that will, best case scenario, fit only 70-80% of their needs.Zaanstad had a familiar problem with its legacy GWS system. They'd been using it for 25 years, but it was preventing the organization from moving forward because it could only support inefficient processes. Any time Zaanstad wanted to make a change, for example, all 300 municipalities on the system needed to agree. “With the Betty Blocks applications at the core of our youth care administration, we save €620,000 annually - and we've emerged as a leader among municipalities.” Taking control of their software Tom knew the city needed to take control of their software. “We know what functionality is really needed. We didn’t want someone else to run away with unnecessary features that would complicate things.” When the municipality needed a new system for their youth care services, Tom saw an opportunity. “We had a vision on how youth services should be handled in the region but no available software could support this vision. The application didn’t exist yet.”"So Zaanstad created it themselves, with development partner Ilionx. They had the first version of the application in just 10 days. Once live, the application increased administrative efficiency for youth care programs by 40%. And where the GWS system required 10 backend developers to operate, Zaanstad now only needs 4 to maintain. Development facts 7 applications developed over the course of 3 years. Application development is a continuous cycle for the City of Zaanstad to replace its legacy system with Betty Blocks. Development time Continuous Development hours Continuous Building blocks used 1800 Innovate by doing The initial youth care application was so successful that the City of Zaanstad has replaced more modules of its legacy system with a total of 7 Betty Blocks applications in 3 years. Today, the change has them rethinking how they approach their IT projects entirely and enables them to keep innovation at the forefront. “It’s about doing and experimenting,” says Tom.“Now after seeing the success of our 7 Betty Blocks applications, we think this is quite a good way to replace more of our legacy systems. And we have more freedom to innovate by being able to develop new concepts and applications ourselves.” Applications developed Ikzoekjeugdhulp.nl A web application to centralize youth care and make it more accessible for children and teens that need help. Meedoen Zaanstad A webshop that provides sports and music activities for children from low-income households. Omgevingsvisie A website with the environmental vision for 2040 of the municipality and the plans to get there. Looking to the future Zaanstad has plans to continue to make Betty Blocks applications a bigger part of their core application landscape. This year they will transfer more social services applications to Betty Blocks, and make their applications available to other municipalities to facilitate cooperation. Automated Back Office and Mobile Service App for CleanAir by Baker Login Platform Explore the platform Platform overview Low-Code AI Toolkit Integrations Governance App gallery Pricing Get a demo Why Betty Blocks About us Why Betty Blocks About Betty Blocks Citizen development Fusion teams Professional services The 4-week Guarantee Solutions Role CIOs Developers Business Analyst Innovation Lead IT Architects Strategy Legacy Modernization Digital transformation Partners Become a partner Find a partner Technology partners Resources By category Customer cases Blog Webinars Education Documentation Use cases By topic What is no-code What is low-code CleanAir by Baker Creates Automated Back Office and Mobile Service App With Betty Blocks Results A customer service portal that is 2x faster Automating 80% of all planning activities System changes applied by citizen developers About the company CleanAir by Baker focuses on delivering a wide range of laminar flow and microbiological safety workbenches that are used in laboratories all over the world. Their cabinets are optimally designed for performance, safety and the protection of users, their work and the environment. In order to optimize and automate their planning and registration system, CleanAir by Baker turned to no-code development specialists EsperantoXL and Betty Blocks. The situation: Paperwork and analogue planning CleanAir has its own service department through which experienced technicians support the validation and calibration of their laminar flow-installations. On a regular basis, their technicians verify whether a workbench still meets the required safety regulations. During these routine inspections, the results were always written down manually, i.e. through the “old school” means of pen and paper. The office planning was also set up in the same way, which took a lot of time because there were many variables to be taken into account. Planners needed to look meticulously at the lead time and protocol standards. As each device required different repairs and checks, not only did they need to find the right engineer but also a suitable time in his agenda. “Equipped with a no-code platform, every employee is turned into a citizen developer.” The challenge: Managing piles of paperwork Many aspects of the CleanAir’s business were still being handled the old-fashioned way. Whenever their technicians visited a client in order to validate their equipment, they were armed with a pen and paper. All measurements were first registered analogously before being digitally stored into a back office environment, a process that was quite inefficient and error-prone. In an attempt to speed up and digitalize this process, CleanAir by Baker called upon software development house EsperantoXL. Soon they realized this wasn’t a situation in which all aspects could be ‘quickly digitized’. That’s why EsperantoXL developed a new platform that offered all necessary functionalities to digitize the entire workflow. The solution: A new back office based on the Betty Blocks no-code platform EsperantoXL managed to digitize a large part of the inspection process through the use of the Betty Blocks no-code platform. EsperantoXL established a back office with built-in functions for order management and inspection reports. The system can automatically generate new contracts based on the service orders. The orders are then scheduled in accordance with the agendas of the technicians, lead times, and protocol standards. The technicians are notified of the orders through a mobile application. Through the mobile app, servicemen can upload all their data, which is being directly linked to a central back office. Moreover, the back office has a customer portal through which customers can approve these reports. “The collaboration with EsperantoXL went very smoothly," said Danny Driesen, head of services at CleanAir by Baker. "For two weeks, our own IT-specialist worked right alongside them. They were proactive and constantly looking for improvements during the entire process. Hence we’ve appointed EsperantoXL to also assist us in our company’s further digital transformation efforts.” Development facts Multiple applications were developed over the course of three years. These include order management, reporting, and planning applications, all connecting to the same back office. Development time Continuous Development hours Continuous Building blocks used 455 The result: Less paperwork and faster services The mobile app has made analogue paperwork completely obsolete and significantly sped up the order processing by the technicians. As these administrative tasks have been optimized, on average clients are now being serviced twice as fast. With the new back office, 80% of CleanAir’s planning activities have been automated, saving them a lot of time. Only the human aspects of the work, such as oral agreements, have remained. The planning is now more flawless and meticulous, ensuring that CleanAir can always meet new contract obligations. The no-code strategy has also motivated CleanAir to expand their workforce with citizen developers. Through the drag-and-drop functionalities of the no-code platform, team members without any programming experience are enabled to make adjustments within the system. With the help of EsperantoXL and Betty Blocks, CleanAir is now fully in control of its own innovation efforts. Their products are specifically designed to reduce costs associated with data transmission and active equipment costs in networking systems. Before Guntis stepped into his newfound role of Citizen Developer, Edge Technologies relied on more than 7 external suppliers for a network of systems to function as their CRM, order management and invoicing, ticketing, stock management, and internal project management. It was time-consuming for users to be constantly switching between different applications to carry out their daily work, and even more time consuming when it came to managing and maintaining each of these systems separately (paperwork, liaising with the different suppliers and stakeholders). Plus, because most of the applications were standardized software packages, they couldn’t be customized to the specific business needs of EDGE. “If you run your business on a self-developed application you are totally independent in your creativity for constant process improvement.” One man on a mission Guntis knew something needed to change. He was on the hunt for an affordable solution that he could use to build an all-around solution for EDGE, that would be future-proof and allow them to be less dependent on external suppliers. And it had to show results fast: Guntis had a 2-month deadline for the first MVP of a product portfolio management and CRM application.Guntis reached out to Niels Schilder, a business consultant at Betty Blocks, outlining the scope of his project and his vision. As Guntis would be undertaking the project alone, an onboarding process was designed to teach him the skills he would need to see the project through. After a 2-hour Betty Blocks training and initial consult with Pre-sales Architect Marcel Korporaal, Guntis got to work. “The best thing was just to start to put a solution together from the start, just build some data fields and see how it works. In the very beginning, I had no understanding, but then I had one call with Marcel, who showed me around and from that point it was easy,” he says. And sure enough, in 2 months he had a working MVP of the product portfolio management and CRM application.Today, Guntis has expanded the initial application to the super OMS EDGE uses in nearly all aspects of their daily operations. That’s why he advocates that small to mid-size business owners should become Citizen Developers and take charge of their own organizations' needs. Development facts Guntis developed 7 applications, such as: Case management, HR management, stock management, product portfolio management, order management and invoicing, and CRM application. Development time Continuous Development hours Continuous Building blocks used 100 Quality always trumps quantity “Using a bunch of SaaS pay-per-user apps seems ok when you just have a few people in the organization, but at some point, you grow. Plus, these applications are only ever almost fitting, but never 100% for your business.” says Guntis.By teaching himself to develop using Betty Blocks, Guntis could free EDGE from their reliance on external software suppliers and solutions that didn’t quite optimize their specific business needs. He replaced their old systems and built a new one 8 times faster than by coding, cutting their software licensing costs by 7.“At the end of the day, we’re at least 20% more productive by working on one system rather than 7. The SuperOMS is also scaling with us, and we’re in control of how fast we can grow.” Developed applications Super OMS Through API's and integrations, the SuperOMS integrates with existing business applications and is accessible to all departments. Product Portfolio Management A collection of all the items, both products and services, sold by EDGE Technologies. CRM Customer relationship management application to track all customer information and interaction. What’s next for Guntis? Here at Betty Blocks, Guntis is a prime example of our Citizen Development mission: It took him - one man - 2 months to build an application with the functionality that would have required an experienced developer 6 months to a year to build. What’s next for Guntis? “Automating business processes is never finished and I will always use Betty Blocks to do this,” he says. He’s particularly excited to use the UI builder to make a customer portal and build the front end of the Edge Technologies website in Betty Blocks instead of Wordpress. Since 1995, the company has provided purchase and management for € 4 billion in investment funds. However, Hanzevast understands that traditional investment can be a daunting field of number crunching and forms with a high barrier for entry.Essentially, Hanzevast’s wealth of experience was only accessible by a small audience that is already active in the investment world or through referrals. The tech-savvy (inherently younger) audience didn’t have any way to easily engage with Hanzevast or navigate through the somewhat daunting manual processes. At least, not without a system or digital option to streamline matters from start to finish. Innovative product, now and in the future Identifying this service gap early meant Hanzevast was able to quickly turn their attention to digital transformation strategies. Without a large IT department in house, the company turned to Betty Blocks to help create a new website with a build-in investment portal. The application aimed to service both existing and new generations of customers. With their new online venture, Hanzevast effectively aimed to kill two birds with one stone: Their current target audience would have access to real-time, improved services and a modern, more engaging website would appeal to their younger target audience. Together with Betty Blocks, Hanzevast decided to build this website around an online investment platform with a host of featured built in to refine their user experience. “With the new investment platform, everyone can easily invest in real estate and shipping funds from as little as 1,000 euros.” Sustainable from the ground up By building the platform in Betty Blocks, not only would the development process be faster but Hanzevast would be able to control data entry for themselves thanks to the ease of Betty Blocks’ backend system.Throughout development, the companies worked together to perform regular user testing. The process, although adding time to the project, gave much-needed information regarding the customer journey and how different audiences navigated the new application. This way Hanzevast could guarantee a simple but effective user journey towards financial freedom for any age or demographic looking to make smarter financial decisions. After being fully briefed regarding Hanzevast’s workflows, Betty Blocks developed the entire front and backend of the final application in 5 months. The live application included systems for onboarding investors, projects and opportunities, payment systems, and a full user interface. A complex system made extremely user-friendly Developing an investment platform is a complex process. Every new customer needs to be vetted and approved based on information provided by organizations, projects, and clients. Calculations such as investment amounts, interest percentages, payment terms, etc. vary widely. The backend of the platform has to take financial and legal matters, in which errors are not permitted, into account. By developing with pre-composed components, Betty Blocks and Hanzevast successfully created a platform that is able to seamlessly process all the different variables automatically. Development facts Together with Betty Blocks, Hanzevast was able to completely modernize its investment process and website for their existing and new target audiences. Development time 5 months Development hours 400 Building blocks used 418 Key features of the application Mollie payments integration Simplified online payments system for small and large investments Onboarding, and client regulation Optimized system for Hanzevast's employees to vet accounts Modern user-interface Fully customized front end developed through user testing State of the art platform Both for Hanzevast and its customers the new platform is intuitive and very easy to use. New customers can make a new account within just a few clicks in the onboarding flow. Customers see an overview of all the available funds in real estate, shipping, and private equity. These can be filtered to fit the customer’s needs and when they are ready to invest the can do so by simply transferring funds through iDeal or any other payment methods offered by Mollie. Through this system, investing so easy that it just takes a few simple clicks, 100% online.“It’s a sight to be seen how the enormous complexity of the platform is translated into an intuitive and user-friendly solution, that perfectly aligns with the needs of our target audience. All in just 5 short months of development.”Employees of Hanzevast can add new investment projects to the platform without the need for IT professionals. They are in full control of what they want to showcase. Examples of this are investment deadlines and progression meters. Also, by using smart filters, they are able to get a wide variety of insights into data for reporting purposes. Because of the flexibility of the platform, Hanzevast is in complete control of its offerings which has vastly improved the experience for its employees and the customer satisfaction of their clientele. With more than 50,000 students across multiple programs, the organization invests a great deal of time and effort to ensure each student gets the absolute most out of their studies. Core to many of their course strategies is to provide real-world experience through internship programs in a variety of fields. This is made possible thanks to the rich network of companies partnered with the university. As the HvA has grown though, connecting students to the right opportunities and managing assignments has become increasingly time-consuming due to their primarily manual processes. Overcoming data mountain For the educators, the existing system required lengthy correspondence with partnered companies via email for every single student in their course. In most cases, this could cost hundreds of hours that would otherwise be spent on refining their curriculum. Unfortunately, the time spent doesn’t end there, once active in an internship, teachers still need to receive assignments (via their website, email, or forms) and get regular updates on how students are performing from their mentors at the company. With most activities and assignments happening remotely during internships, the HvA knew they needed a better solution than error-prone and time-consuming email chains. To optimize and even automate the whole process, the HvA reached out to Betty Blocks to build a mobile accessible Relationship Management application for them. “We can now match supply and demand for practical assignments and internships much better. In addition, we have insight into the progress we can guide students much more efficiently.” Centralizing and automating the grind Paul Engel, Senior Software Developer at Betty Blocks, took the lead for HvA’s project. Through collaboration with the Piet Dekker of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS), Paul was able to outline the exact requirements for a fully functional solution.Data collection in the backend database for students, companies, teachers, and assignments would form the core of the application. Around that, each party needed to easily be able to upload information from anywhere that would automatically be stored in the application. Once there, it could be accessed instantly by more than 3,300 teachers far more efficiently. The development and implementation of the system took only 7 weeks in total. Paul Engel was even able to realize a working prototype for AUAS for active user testing within 3 days. Development facts Betty Blocks' development team put their own best-practices to the test, collaborating closely with their HR department to refine the company's latest feedback and appraisal application. Development time 4 weeks Development hours 100 Building blocks used 120 A more efficient process for everyone With the new application and it’s automated data collection system, educators from the HvA can reliably follow their student’s progress regardless of where they are in real-time. More importantly, for students working remotely or with limited access to a computer, all their assignments or reviews can be uploaded while on the go through a mobile device.“We can now match supply and demand for practical assignments and internships much better. In addition, we have insight into the progress we can guide students much more efficiently. ” - Piet Dekker, Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences Key features of the application Document automation Automated and centralized the processing of student performance documents Secure backend Storing the records of 50,000 students and all the partnered companies securely Mobile accessibility Students and educators can upload or access documents from anywhere, anytime Better systems, better results Since its introduction, the new Relationship Management system has helped save thousands of effective working hours for all educators involved in internship programs. Without needing to wait for replies to emails or find misplaced forms, the whole process is much more efficient for all involved parties. The company, which specializes in sustainable heating, tap water, ventilation, and thermostat solutions, regularly launches new products and pioneering concepts. The company also continuously improves the existing range. And this is exactly why Itho Daalderop needed a powerful back-end system and new website. The main goal of the system is to improve the findability of product information on the website. Whenever customers wanted to retrieve installation instructions of a certain product, they had to click multiple times to get on the right page. Optimizing this part of the customer journey would save both the customer and Itho Daalderop a lot of work and frustration. Adapting to a fast-changing market Itho Daalderop requested Betty Blocks’ partner ilionx to make the user-interface and overall structure of the site more user-friendly so the customer experience would align with the innovative character of the company. According to Nick Winkelman, Project Leader Digital at Itho Daalderop, these changes were necessary to make Itho Daalderop’s system more adaptable to a fast-changing market. “One of the requirements was that employees should be able to apply upgrades to ten thousands of products to the website with just a push of a button.” In order to do so, ilionx needed to install a centralized, powerful system that would connect all the front-end and back-end operations. Moreover, it was essential that the new system would let Itho Daalderop employees get more grip on their digital environment. “That’s why we opted for a no-code solution,” states Winkelman. “Within our branch, we are one of the most innovative companies, and our website and back-end operations didn’t reflect that yet. Well, now they do!” No-code as a cultural shift The transition to the new system represented both a technological and cultural shift. “Implementing a no-code development platform is not just about buying a new piece of equipment,” explains Winkelman. “We also needed to train our personnel to adapt to a new way of working.” As part of the digital transformation, the Itho Daalderop team started working with agile development and scrum. The sprint process is especially useful when it comes to the flexibility of Itho Daalderop’s operations: “It allows for a mode of development that results in deliverable products, even while the project is still ongoing. A no-code platform such as Betty Blocks is perfect for this way of working. An incremental delivery system like this shortens the time to market and results in higher revenue.” Winkelman continues: “One of the best things about it, is that we have well-defined tasks as teams and individuals, all while keeping a clear view of the general mission. By optimizing both our website and our modus operandi, we’re confident that we’ll achieve even better results.” Development facts Betty Blocks’ partner ilionx created a user-friendly overall structure and user-interface so employees could easily apply upgrades to ten thousand of products to the website with just the push of a button. To facilitate this, Ilionx installed a centralized, powerful system that connects all the front- and back-end operations. Development time Continuous Development hours Continuous Building blocks used 800 Key features of the application Integration Connects all front- and back-end operations Scalability User-friendly overall structure that citizen developers can use and further develop themselves Fully responsive The new website works fully responsive across all devices A no-code foundation Winkelman: “We now have a website that does not only look very modern but also revolves around an innovative idea. That is, the new no-code foundation allows employees to easily apply changes within the system. The first round of practical testing has proven successful. Based on the user experience of our test-subjects, the customer journey has greatly improved.” The plan is to even further optimize the website in terms of usability. Ever since Itho Daalderop turned to Betty Blocks, the business is confident it can start utilizing the no-code platform on different projects and applications. “Recently, we even hired our own Betty Blocks developer. She is being coached by ilionx and already finished her first training.” And so, Itho Daalderop has made its first major steps towards digital transformation. Although it will be an ongoing process, Winkelman believes that most of their objectives have already been accomplished. “Within our branch, we are one of the most innovative companies, and our website and back-end operations didn’t reflect that yet. One of these digital initiatives is Morgenwerk, an employment agency that operates completely online, helping users find temporary employment 24/7.With this innovative concept in mind, the founders of Morgenwerk were looking for a technical partner to make their online platform a reality - someone who could think along during the creative process, provide support, and handle all technical issues. Their search led them directly to Betty Blocks.Through informed choices, the latest insights and modern technology, Betty Blocks and Morgenwerk developed the first ever 100% online employment agency for web and mobile in the Netherlands. Online concept development “For a long time, we’ve been able to do day-to-day things such as buying groceries, paying bills, and purchasing concert tickets, books and movies online. Why couldn’t we find temp jobs online as well?” This was the idea that Gaston van Weterink, founder of Morgenwerk, put forward to the Betty Blocks team.During a brainstorm session, Betty Blocks and Morgenwerk mapped out all the ‘must-have’ features that could help Morgenwerk achieve its business goals through the online platform. Fueled with fresh perspectives and insights, both teams prepared for the next step in the process: developing a minimum viable product. When the MVP was completed, Morgenwerk started testing the new solution, perfecting features such as the sign-up and login process, the security of personal documents, the ability to assign different user roles, and assuring everything ran as smoothly as possible. “Betty Blocks helped us extend our online reach. Thanks to the integration with back-office systems and social media, we can offer 100% online certainty to both job seekers and employers searching for job candidates.” Development facts An entire online employment platform was created over the course of 4.000 development hours, including an ideation workshop, proof of concept and sprint 0 sessions. Instead of having to travel for a job interview, filing documents by hand, or sending out your motivation letter and resume via email, these activities are all facilitated by the platform. These days, the power of any successful online environment lies in its ease of use and transparency. Morgenwerk cleverly plays into this dynamic by making its platform accessible for both employers, recruitment agencies, and job-hunters. For example, organizations can post job offers, while potential employees log in using their social media profile to see matching vacancies. Pluryn’s mission is to help their clients to live more independently in society. Thomas Geelkerken, Manager Business Analyst at Pluryn wants to support this mission with innovative technology. Thomas started looking into a new way of working because he was tired of solutions that didn’t truly benefit employees or clients. When Pluryn hired agencies to build custom apps, the results weren’t stable or scalable enough to be used across the large organization. Third-party developers also have a hard time understanding the diverse and complex needs of Pluryn’s clients. That’s when Thomas saw the potential to transform the way the organization approaches digital solutions: using low-code/no-code technology (LCNC) to empower those who have the most client knowledge. Balancing innovation and resources Healthcare IT is expensive and digital solutions must be able to meet stringent security requirements. Apps also cannot add time or complexity to processes because the staff needs to optimize their time for clients. As such, the organization must constantly balance innovation with tight budgets and resources. By leveraging the client expertise of their non-technical staff, Pluryn aims to turn ideas for improving client care into practical solutions. For example, an app to enable clients to manage their personal finances and budgets. They want a low-code/no-code (LCNC) platform that is accessible for non-technical staff and also supports building advanced, custom applications. “What we found in Betty Blocks was a partner with enthusiasm, great vision and product, and a certain amount of realism. They made our ideas and vision practical and the ability to support the implementation of our citizen development vision was an exact match for us.” Mobilizing citizen development Thomas built an idea backlog, based on topics that had a clear gap between what the organization wanted and the available technology. He also started inspiring people to the possibilities for solutions developed by their own client experts, also called citizen developers, instead of the IT department or agencies. Thomas searched for an LCNC platform to support his citizen development vision. "I believe that truly great ideas come from within the organization, from those working with our clients who may not necessarily have strong technical skills. So, why not give them an instrument to help their ideas get translated into a working digital solution?" - Thomas Geelkerken, Manager Business Analyst Thomas also had high standards for data security and privacy to consider. This was a crucial factor considering the personal health information of their clients and healthcare sector regulations. Cyber security at the speed of business "One of the main reasons we selected Betty Blocks is that changes are applied throughout the platform including security changes and certificates. That shows us the required security measures are in place. It also helps that other customers have privacy-sensitive apps on the same platform.” - Thomas Geelkerken, Manager Business Analyst Establishing a fusion team Thomas created a fusion team within Pluryn that combines professional developers and citizen developers. When it comes to identifying Pluryn’s citizen developers, Thomas looks for tech-savvy and analytically-minded employees with a strong background in the topic that’s being addressed. They should also be enthusiastic and have an interest in learning new skills. Thomas aims for the citizen developers to independently build as much of the solution as they’re able. Then, a professional developer finishes the remaining 20%, for example, of the app development. Meanwhile the IT department is a Center of Excellence that ensures the apps are governed and maintained. The department assigns specific roles and permissions within the platform to prevent the fusion team from accidentally creating security risks. Thomas also spends much of his time on relationship and change management. For example, coordinating with the security officer and other stakeholders from the very beginning stages of development – especially when the app requires sensitive information. With each project, he works to inspire those who will be impacted by the application to all the possibilities within the Betty Blocks platform. He also advises the fusion team on any necessary changes. Citizen development in action Like many organizations, Pluryn benefited tremendously from citizen development when they needed to quickly deploy tech solutions. The pandemic caused a sudden and significant increase in demand for personal protective equipment (PPE) from their frontline workers across the country. The organization’s analog process wasn’t optimized for the task. Thomas and his team used input from Pluryn staff to develop the Corona App – a digital system that streamlines equipment ordering and distribution. Within 10 days, the team independently built the back office of the application; they finished customizing the front-end a few weeks later. After a month of development, Pluryn’s staff was using an application that works similarly to Amazon for their internal inventory. Staff can see how much PPE is already available when they order and track the shipment. Then, the logistics team uses it for deliveries. The app delivers additional benefits for the organization. Logistics team members, who are also Pluryn clients, are gaining new digital skills. Furthermore, the purchasing department is saving money by not ordering surplus stock. The next step is to scale the app to optimize orders for the rest of Pluryn’s equipment inventory. The Corona App is just one example of the multiple apps Pluryn’s fusion team built themselves after only training for a short time. Each app has furthered Pluryn’s digital transformation. Moreover, the solutions have resulted in a better way of working that ultimately improves client care.Thomas notices everyone is more engaged because they know their ideas have a direct and lasting impact on the entire organization. The relationship between the IT department and the organization has also strengthened after working closely together to build value-adding solutions Citizen development - key benefits Rapid application development Citizen developers rapidly build new tech solutions without expensive development costs Increased collaboration with IT The business and IT work closely together to build apps that perfectly meet requirements Apps developed in a safe environment The IT department ensure apps are sufficiently governed, maintaining high data security and privacy standards A vision for the future In 2022, Pluryn will leverage more of what Betty Blocks can improve in their processes and way of working by partnering with Betty Blocks Premium Development Support team (PDS). Using the Betty Blocks’ app factory methodology, PDS helps organizations ensure their new apps are value-adding with suitability assessments and tailored developer learning paths. The fusion team will work alongside PDS technicians to grow their capabilities on the Betty Blocks platform. For example, by being able to create more custom components.Thomas plans to expand Pluryn’s Citizen Development community by making the Betty Blocks’ digital ideation portal accessible to everyone in the organization. Every day, they advise, train and support customers within a complex international field of food regulations and legislation. Recently, Précon expanded its activities with a new non-food division. The problem was that this new division used a different case management system (CMS), its own applications and reporting methods, resulting in misalignment between both divisions. That’s why Précon wanted to establish more synergy through a single system. With the help of Betty Blocks’ partner BlockBrains, the company started building a new CMS while optimizing some of the key work processes such as workflow-, order- and invoice management using the Betty Blocks no-code development platform. Shadow IT and lack of oversight “In the field that Précon operates, there are no out-of-the-box software solutions,” explains Marco Priem, managing director at Précon. “And without an extensive IT department that can build and maintain custom-made CMS with manual coding, we decided to opt for a no-code solution.” “We’ve compared several low-code and no-code vendors, but for our specific needs, the pricing model of Betty Blocks proved to be the most economically viable. Also, through a no-code platform - instead of low-code -, our non-IT staff can easily follow the inner workings of the system and propose changes if needed.” Précon faced 2 main challenges: they needed to expand and diversify their organization due to increased market concentration, and establish a software system that was more adaptable to a fast-changing market. Both of these factors, Précon concluded, would require a more flexible and transparent IT-environment. Until recently, each Précon division had its own way of managing workflows and tracking order statuses through either Google- or Excel sheets. Forms were assigned manually and communication between customers took place via closed email accounts, which resulted in shadow IT and a lack of oversight. By introducing an all-embracing system through which these work processes would be automatically assigned and tracked within the system while monitoring all communication flows, Précon aimed at establishing better alignment between their separate divisions. Blockbrains took care of the entire technical process. From building the application, to back-office management, storage and hosting, and deployment and scalability. “Within 5 months the application was ready to start the pilot. This application has saved us a considerable amount of time and operational costs, and helped secure our business processes.” Keeping IT simple BlockBrains developed a self-service portal based on the Betty Blocks no-code platform. Using this portal, Précon can receive, assign, track and invoice requests from customers, all within 1 system. Via the new application, customers get real-time insight into their order status. In addition, direct data exchanges between Précon and customers can take place in a secure digital environment. The guys at Précon were pleasantly surprised by the simplicity and ease-of-use at which the application could be managed. Because of the transparency and visual modeler of the no-code platform, Précon employees were able to contribute towards perfecting the solution through agile processes. After BlockBrains received valuable insights about the working processes of Précon employees, the no-code experts managed to integrate the non-food and food division within a universal system. Building the system through the no-code platform made it possible that the pilot of the application went live after just 5 months of development - about 3 times quicker than Précon had predicted. Development facts Betty Blocks’ partner BlockBrains built a universal self-service portal that is easy to use and customizable by Précon employees. The system optimized and automated many administrative duties that previously had been characterized by tedious Excel-procedures. Development time 5 months (and ongoing) Development hours Continuous Building blocks used 323 Key features of the application Workflow management A system that automatically assigns and tracks procedural tasks Order tracking Employees and customers get real-time insight into their order status Invoice automation Automated invoice system that translates data between Précon, clients, and suppliers Saving time for clients Through the new case management system, Précon completely banned Excel sheets and significantly confined its shadow IT activities. Thanks to the universal system, Précon has also gained more grip and control on organizational processes like workflow management, order tracking, invoice automation, and client-communication.There have been massive decreases in administrative duties, which saves Précon valuable time to better serve its clients. But perhaps most importantly, the company has established a strong foundation for prototyping and executing new innovative business solutions.According to Précon's IT manager, Rien van Alpen: “Within 5 months the application was ready to start the pilot. The no-code approach to development has saved us a considerable amount of time and operational costs. It has allowed us to communicate better with our customers. In addition, the platform offers us the opportunity to structurally respond to changes within the business.” This project is completed by our partner Start aligning business and IT Experience the impact of Betty Blocks on your innovation goals in a 30 minute demo based on your business case Platform Platform tour Plans and pricing Get a demo No-code platform Low-code platform Integrations Why Betty Blocks Why Betty Blocks? The interesting part? They’ve taken different routes to reach the same destination. Sweco is Europe’s biggest architecture and engineering consultancy company, with over 18,000 architects, engineers, and consultants operating in over 14 countries. The organization is a leader in its field, and the latest innovation Sweco has onboarded is low-code/no-code (LCNC) development. At Sweco, the demand for custom solutions and applications for business users has been growing rapidly. Business departments require easy-to-use, bespoke, customizable solutions which can be built quickly and securely. Meanwhile, IT departments are stretched-thin, and out-sourcing IT solutions is a convoluted and expensive process. This issue brought both Sweco Netherlands and Sweco Belgium onto their separate paths towards the same low-code/no-code (LCNC) development destination using Betty Blocks, forming fusion teams and empowering business users in the application development process. Empowered to self-build - Sweco Belgium Sam van Mulders (Chief Digital Officer at Sweco Belgium) experienced an increasingly urgent need from business users to have digital solutions supporting their work. In the absence of bespoke applications, solutions were self-built on MS Access or created through excel documents, thus blocking transparency, governance, or standardization. Alternatively the IT department would be involved in application creation, resulting in a full-scale development approach in which money and resources were invested at a stage where ideas and concepts were not properly matured. Each of these solutions brought their own insufficient use of time and resources, complicating processes which required simplification. A new approach had to be taken. Sweco Belgium is growing quickly, and experiencing the universal challenge of finding the right people. Sam recognized that the business had to digitize, but hiring developers was not a fitting solution. Instead, by investing internally Sweco empowered their existing employees to think digitally and innovatively. Sam found the perfect solution in no-code development. The Betty Blocks platform empowers business users to develop and test their ideas and stimulate innovation in a simplified, secured, governed, and scalable manner. Aziri, highly skilled in LCNC development, was selected as Sweco Belgium’s implementation partner. Aziri trained Sweco’s first fusion team and, in co-creation, built the first application. Since then, a small development team at Sweco Belgium has been independently building. The application development team consistently involves business users, to which ownership is transferred for the making of small back-end adjustments and updates once the application is built. The fusion team is further composed of a project developer, a coach, and a project owner. Citizen developers (business users without coding experience developing applications) at Sweco Belgium have built five internal applications. One of these applications, a client satisfaction tool, has over 5000 users in global Sweco offices. Some of their other applications work to automate and digitize internal processes that were previously done through convoluted and error-prone manual work, optimizing their business processes. Additionally, the development team has started building customer facing applications, developing self-serve solutions in close collaboration with their clients. According to Sam van Mulders, the Betty Block’s strength is rooted in the platform’s intuitive drag-and-drop interface and model-building methodology. This makes the platform easy to maintain, even when the data or code gets more complicated. Additionally, the ability to modify the look and feel of the frontend, adding visual branding to applications, makes all solutions customizable. Meanwhile, all applications can be integrated into the existing ERP system, and the international Azure SSO configuration Sweco uses - a vital element for a large organization. Sweco's Applications Building Information Modeling (BIM) Tool Sweco Netherlands' fusion team has built a BIM Tool for the ISO19650 certificate. The app includes a bespoke checklist incorporating the appropriate clauses, and is integrated with jira. Client Satisfaction Tool Sweco Belgium's fusion team have developed a Client Satisfaction Tool which has over 5000 users in global Sweco offices Customer Facing Applications Citizen developers at Sweco have started created self-serve solutions in close collaborations with their clients, elevating their customer support An innovative layer around an ERP system - Sweco Netherlands Meanwhile, Sweco Netherlands found their own way to Betty Blocks. An urgent necessity for custom solutions for various company processes became obvious during their transition to a new ERP system. The organization had two specific use cases - a risk-management system and a project budget calculator for the business. Given a short timeline due to the fast-approaching ERP implementation date, they needed something built quickly, efficiently, and securely. Seeing their Dutch neighbor’s success, Richard Bruggingk (IT Manager at Sweco Netherlands) foresaw the benefits of implementing the same, fully customizable, LCNC platform for rapid application development. Meanwhile, the Betty Blocks platform enables organizations to build an innovative layer around an existing ERP system, mapping exactly onto Sweco’s needs. Sweco Netherlands selected ilionx as their development partner for their experience with Betty Blocks and knowledge of the Microsoft Power Apps Platform. Sweco Netherlands had previously developed simple solutions through Power Apps, and the Betty Blocks platform enables the full integration of existing infrastructure with new applications. This way, Sweco has selected two platforms to fit their evolving needs, supplementing one another seamlessly. Together, Sweco Netherlands and ilionx employees established their own version of a fusion team. Sweco business users were involved in collecting ideas, establishing requirements, and providing feedback. While ilionix built the solutions, the platform enables Sweco members to manage and adjust the applications. Using this development method, the identified use cases were developed into applications within the timeframe and budget. Since then, Sweco NL has continued their rapid application development. Sweco is a frontrunner in the certificate process, and is currently developing an ISO19650 certificate Building Information Modeling (BIM) Tool. The application guides users through a bespoke form incorporating all the clauses of the BIM certification. Enabled by the Betty Blocks platform, the app is integrated with jira and automatically creates tickets to finalize missing checklist elements.By digitizing previously manual processes, the app ensures process efficiency, guaranteeing that all requirements are met at the proper time. Time is saved across the organization as all information is collectivized and requirements are clear. Through an optimized certification process all the information is controlled, governed, and secured, and the failure cost on a project is minimized. Supported by these applications, Sweco remains a leader in the industry. “Through agile work, if we fail we do it much quicker, so we succeed much faster. By noticing issues early in the process we exclusively invest time and resources into projects and applications we know have the correct product market fit and consistently yield success. ” More than a platform Crucially, Sweco has implemented both a new technology and way of working. Instead of fitting the Betty Blocks platform into the framework of traditional software development, both branches have incorporated agile work for rapid innovation. This is digital transformation through LCNC development, and Sweco demonstrates the various forms it can take. At Sweco Belgium, Aziri onboarded the team onto both the platform and agile working methods. According to Sam, Aziri taught them how to begin by building an MVP, then gathering feedback, and finally implementing this into further versions, thus going through various iteration cycles. The result? Rapid and flexible application development in which adjustments or changes can be made early in the process when requirements aren’t fulfilled. According to Sam, “through agile work, if we fail we do it much quicker, so we succeed much faster. By noticing issues early in the process we exclusively invest time and resources into projects and applications we know have the correct product market fit and consistently yield success”. Thus, the time and resources invested into application development is reduced while business users are empowered in their innovation. Sweco Netherlands has experienced a digital transformation of their own. They established a scrum team composed of Sweco business users and ilionx developers. According to Richard, both sides brought their specific knowledge with enthusiasm and dedication, fostering true collaboration. The team developed a set pattern within one-week sprints: two days development followed by three days of review. Through this strict development rhythm, agile work, and collaborative innovation, the two applications were developed within the set budget and timeframe. A LCNC future Sweco has found a new way of accelerating digital transformation and facilitating: fusion team empowered no-code development. This is only the beginning of Sweco’s journey. Sweco wants to “look into the possibility of deploying the platform in other countries. Betty Blocks is very strong in regards to customization, but we don’t want to standardize this. We want each country to decide what applications look like”. - Richard Bruggingk, IT Manager Sweco Netherlands A new way forward This is just the beginning of Sweco’s digital transformation. According to Richard, Sweco wants to “look into the possibility of deploying the platform in other countries. Betty Blocks is very strong in regards to customization, but we don’t want to standardize this. We want each country to decide what applications look like”. Sweco has discovered the strength of Betty Blocks and LCNC development: each company or department can select their own development process route. Through flexible low-code and no-code capabilities, in-house PDS, and range of partners, organizations can customize and implement the Betty Blocks platform in their own ways. Meanwhile, business users are empowered in their application development on a gliding sale of involvement through a fully IT-governed and secured platform. Although newer, more cost-effective materials are regularly invested in, the software and processes behind these companies have fallen behind the standard of other sectors. Teyler, a Dutch process optimization company, believes this technology gap represents massive growth potential which can be shaped into a bright, positive future for the sector.According to Floris Hei, CEO and founder of Teyler, many companies out there are struggling with an all too familiar problem: Escaping outdated Excel, Access, and legacy database systems. Over time, a lack of centralized project control and risk management tools have created data gaps that eventually cause inefficiencies. Materials, labor, and time management are frequently underestimated which quickly cuts into a company’s bottom line.Through their holistic digital transformation approach, Teyler aims to accelerate digital transformation for their clients through a network of experts, consultants, and technology to help guide them. “We’re connecting companies with future-oriented technologies like Betty Blocks and our own expertise to solve root problems quickly, efficiently, and cost-effectively.” Leading change from within The first stumbling block they needed to tackle was the completeness of data collection in their own organization. Basically, as Excel spreadsheets moved between consultants and clients, information quickly fragmented into dozens of file versions. No single spreadsheet contained a comprehensive overview of current projects. Teyler realized they needed a centralized solution to help them take back control.Specifically, they were searching for a way to automate the reporting and analysis process for their consultants based on project data they regularly received. Once the data was captured, they would need to generate reports based on automated business logic. Lex Brouwer, Advisor and citizen developer at Teyler saw an opportunity to realize their goal with no-code. Despite not having any programming experience, he wanted to use Betty Blocks to build a custom process and control application. Together with a citizen developer training and coaching experts, Mixit, Lex worked in parallel to make progress on his application while still learning how to use no-code effectively.“Working in Betty Blocks added a lot of structure to the whole development process,” said Lex Brouwer. “We set a goal for ourselves to develop an MVP in 4 weeks which we worked in sprints to achieve. Things moved really fast once I’d figured things out and the time saved allowed me to go back to build features I originally wanted but couldn’t make at the time.” MVP blueprint to reality After 5 weeks of development, Brouwer deployed his first application version which streamlined dozens of internal processes and could immediately be implemented in SLA agreements for the Harbour of Moerdijk and multiple Dutch provincial governments.Teyler's process and control application successfully centralized their data collection outside of spreadsheets. Everything they needed to monitor progress or generating reports could be automatically pulled using pre-built actions in the front- and back-end UI. Although still in the early phases, Lex also included a front-end customer portal for customers to these reports themselves.Aside from just working data for process improvement, Teyler used the application to provide a brand new Risk-based Asset Management service to customers. Development facts Lex Brouwer's process and project control application was his first development project which he completed thanks to guidance and training from Mixit Development time 5 weeks Development hours 125 Building blocks used 120 More than just an Excel replacement Thanks to the adoption of a cloud-based Betty Blocks solution, Teyler finally has an environment where consultants and clients can collaborate without polluting, overwriting, or risking each other’s work. Each decision made by their teams can be done without doubting data quality which vastly improves the time and consistency of services they provide. Developed applications Process and project control system All information revolving around projects from materials and contractors to equipment is stored in real-time for consultants or clients to log in and monitor. Report automation Lex's application uses built-in logic from industry experts to generate reports for Risk Management and predictive analytics. Customer portal Clients are able to log in to the reporting or database system where they can download up to date versions of their project analytics. Laying foundations for the future “Now that everything is out there and working, I’ve already got big plans for the next steps for this project,” said Lex Brouwer. The application itself, while powerful, was built extremely efficiently by Brouwer, who only used half of their available blocks. With the remainder, Lex intends to further automate the application’s features.Customers all use their own tools to manage their own processes and inspections. These tools are gradually coming online now. So, the next step is to connect with these systems to pull 100% pure data from our clients without any manual inputs from them or our consultants.Should any of Teyler's customers have online systems, they will soon have access to much faster, fully automated, always up-to-date information in real-time. As less time would have to be invested in creating reports, Teyler could then also focus on generating more complete, in-depth analysis on a regular basis. Through a network of medical, lifestyle, psychological, and care organizations around the Netherlands, ZvdZ works with 70.000 employers spanning over 1.5 million employees.Together, ZvdZ and its partners navigate cases of illness, absenteeism, or delicate employee health issues with on-site or private evaluations by qualified professionals. While in control of the process, their unique service along with the scale of their operations meant there were no off-the-shelf solutions available to help streamline operations effectively. Out with the old, in with the new The existing way of work, while still functional, put unnecessary strain on both employers and Zorg van de Zaak’s network. For instance, planning PMO evaluations could require upwards of 1000 employees and their information to be connected with a medical/lifestyle professional.Without a digital solution behind them, creating a contract, inviting employees to participate, and executing examinations were all arranged via email with department managers. Depending on the scale of an organization, this could take weeks just to organize let alone documenting results and providing actionable advice based on their sessions. With more clients joining ZvdZ daily, Merlin van Eerden, Director Health Services understood that they needed to make some changes fast. Unfortunately, after meeting with their own IT department, it was made clear that developing a new system internally would be at the expense of their already full roadmap. So Merlin turned to BlockBrains, a no-code development partner of Betty Blocks for help. “We knew we needed a new application and were aware of the shortcomings of our old application but we were having trouble defining the right requirements. The experience of BlockBrains and the agility of the Betty Blocks platform gave us the confidence we were on the right track.” An all in one business and healthcare tool "The combination of Zorg van de Zaak's expertise in preventive health care and our knowledge of how to optimize processes was key to the success of this project." - Kay Lankheet, Managing Consultant & Founder at BlockBrainsUsing Betty Blocks’ no-code platform BlockBrains would develop an application in which ZvdZ could set up entire projects through a single portal. With this new tool, they would be able to invite employees, create personalized questionnaires, document examinations, and give participants access to their reports in private dashboards in real-time.Next to that, supporting features would be added like scheduling tools for doctors which would give an easy overview of when professionals would be available. Due to the often high volumes of examinations, it was also important for automated advice to be generated based on answers to the questionnaire. All this was design with maximum security in mind including two-factor authentication plus s strict role-based access policy to completely secure all entered data. Many hands make light work BlockBrains’ business, analytics, and development experience proved to be invaluable for Zorg van de Zaak’s project right from the beginning. While ZvdZ established sprint goals, deadlines, and an outline for a testable MVP, BlockBrains’ developers were already laying the foundations for the application.Every two weeks BlockBrains presented their sprint results for Zorg van de Zaak to test and provide feedback on. Just 4 months into development, a working prototype was ready for live testing in Zorg van de Zaak’s organization.Using the new centralized PlanDesk application, Zorg van de Zaak’s entire planning process could be completed in half the time. Since the PlanDesk stored appointments and forms digitally, scheduling errors between all parties were almost reduced to zero, saving valuable time and money that would otherwise cost clients to reschedule. Development facts Zorg van de Zaak and BlockBrains combined their business, development, and industry knowledge to successfully cut the resources and time spent on the evaluation process by 50%. The development itself was completed by BlockBrains with regular feedback moments with stakeholders. Development time 4 months Development hours 480 Building blocks used 257 Key features of the application Integrated scheduling Reduces scheduling errors and time conflicts to zero Automated preliminary feedback Personalized questionnaires give first-line support for employees Private dashboards and data Employer & employee data is restricted to unauthorized users Building a healthier, happier workforce Modern enterprises such as Tata Steel, are becoming much more aware of how the overall wellbeing of employees affects operations. As more companies adopt the same healthcare focus, organizations like Zorg van de Zaak will continue to perform a vital service in improving working conditions around the Netherlands. Thanks to the capabilities of digital tooling like their no-code PlanDesk system, their network of companies can scale-up rapidly to take on higher demand from a growing number of clients.
