All American is a substantial player in a $2 billion dollar industry. It provides services across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, and South Carolina. Its customers include some of the largest companies in the world.
All American Grease Services is now a part of Liquid Environmental Solutions, the nation's largest grease trap service provider with 45 colleciton branches and 19 waste water treatment plants throughout the U.S.

Business Challenge
All American Grease Services' ownership crafted plans to substantially expand the business. Growth would come both organically and through acquisition. At the time, company operations were run with a combination of manual processes, a Microsoft Access database and lots of paper.
As growth opportunities arose, All American's controller, Bobbie Breaux, knew immediately that these inefficient systems would prove to be problematic. "Challenges that may be acceptable for a local operator -- like inefficient scheduling of drivers, insecure record keeping, and time wasted on manual tasks -- would become serious issues in a rapidly growing regional operation," said Bobbie Breaux. She recognized that scaling the business would require powerful, flexible, systems that could scale ahead of growth.
To transition into a regional operator, All American Grease Services needed to take simple steps to better deal with paper.
The company needed a better way to dispatch drivers, collect data about customers and reduce overall paper usage.
Solution
Breaux researched solutions extensively and decided that Alpha Anywhere would be ideal for the task. She was impressed with its flexibility and the power it provided to build Web-based and mobile solutions efficiently. Its ability to quickly prototype systems was also a key factor, since she would need to sell the entire concept to company ownership and some prospective customers as well.
She contacted Alpha Software Corporation, which put her in touch with Web App Express. Web App Express Ltd, a certified Alpha Anywhere partner, designs and builds mobile and web applications for companies, organizations and government entities across the globe.
"I asked Web App Express if they could immediately create screenshots of what the system would look like, because I had scheduled a meeting for the next day with a prospective customer," Breaux remembers. "They delivered, giving me exactly what I needed. Based on the Alpha Anywhere mockup the customer saw, we won the contract."
Web App Express then built All American a comprehensive Web-based and mobile system that takes care of every aspect of All American's operations, including scheduling drivers work and routes, report-writing, and more. It is driven by a SQL database.
Paper, paper-based reports, and manual work have been almost completely dropped. In the past, Breaux and her staff had to print out work tickets for drivers on a daily basis. That needless work has stopped. Instead, drivers use an intuitive mobile app that works on any device.
"A lot of the drivers were worried about moving to the new system, because some had never even touched a computer before," Breaux remembers. "It's so easy to use and saves employees so much time and frustration, that now you can't get the app away from them. Before they were inundated with paper — they could have had 100 tickets. Now they just use a tablet."
In addition to removing paper, monthly reports are now run in minutes. The Alpha Anywhere system also integrates with All American's accounting software, making for a seamless solution.
"The system Web App Express built for us using Alpha Anywhere was even better than I thought it would be," Breaux remembers. "It's delivered everything we wanted, and then some."

Results/Benefits
All American has reaped considerable productivity and financial benefits from the new system. With the old system, Breaux and her staff spent at least two days a week printing out paper tickets. Now it takes less than ten minutes a month to create driver schedules that work across a range of mobile devices.
Drivers are more productive, because they easily use the mobile app versus handling paper tickets. They also don't need to drive to All American's headquarters twice a day to pick up tickets in the morning, and bring completed ones back in the evening. Some drivers only need to go to headquarters once a month.
In addition, staff does not need to manually enter information from paper tickets into the system — the drivers enter updates themselves from the road on their mobile apps. That reduces errors, speeds customer service and saves on time and paper.
The company has reduced filing cabinets, file folders, stacks of paper and sorting stations. "Because of that time savings, we can now devote ourselves to higher-value tasks," Breaux says. "We're also much more secure, because tickets can't be physically lost — they're in the system, not on paper. I can go directly into the SQL database to fix errors, which I couldn't do in the past."
Customer service is substantially improved with the new digital filing system. Customers get invoices more quickly than previously, and the invoices are more accurate.
"We now know the real-time status of every customer's needs and can respond to unscheduled service calls with unprecedented speed," she says. Because the new system is paperless, Breaux can dispatch drivers to customers more quickly in case of an emergency. She only needs to flag it in the system.
The system has increased customer loyalty and made it easier to attract new clients. The paperless system even allows customers to remotely view service and scheduling related data, as desired. The company has long term plans to build more apps to eliminate printed paper.

Peter Caspari is an Australian-based IT consultant and developer of cloud-based solutions. His company, GCS Research, has been developing custom database solutions for small to large size businesses since 1999. Solutions range from small single-user applications to large multi-user cloud-based solutions. His customers include multi-national corporations, government agencies, and smaller businesses in a variety of fields, including aviation and make-safe trades such as tree contracting and glass repair.
Peter Caspari's clients include those who manage make-safe services for Australian insurance companies and Australian government emergency agencies, and handle their day-to-day and emergency damage work caused by weather events.

The government agencies and insurance companies Caspari worked for needed a system for coordinating the the make-safe work following storms. They wanted a comprehensive system that would include allocation of jobs to various trades, tracking the workflow in the field, invoicing, quality assurance, key performance Indicators, and more. They also needed a mobile client to serve the trades and field workers doing the make-safe work.

Solution
When Caspari was approached to develop the app and solution, he had to decide what platform to use to build it. Several years previously, a number of his clients told him they wanted to move their desktop-based applications to the Web, prompting him to launch a search for the best product to do that. "I did a thorough investigation of what was on the market, and Alpha Anywhere jumped out at me," he remembers. "Important to me was that it is clearly for rapid application development. It's very easy to build something with it and get it online quickly. It's very impressive."
When his clients involved in managing the emergency make-safe services asked him to build the system, he turned to Alpha Anywhere. With it, he built a comprehensive Web-based application and mobile app that handles the complex workflow from start to finish. The system uses approximately 150 grid and UX components and is load-balanced across multiple Alpha Anywhere application servers. The load balancing system was developed by Caspari using Alpha Anywhere. A call center takes calls about homes or businesses who require emergency make-safe work. That information is input into a Web-based application, which in turn allocates and schedules the work for various trades, who go out, assess the damage, and perform the make-safe work. The contractors take the mobile app with information about the work that needs to be done into the field with them. Using the app they take before-and-after photos of the damage and the cleanup. The app automatically logs when the work was started and finished. The information from the app is then synced back to the database that powers the Web application. The system is a complete end-to-end solution, and includes invoicing as well. Particularly important, Caspari says, is that it provides transparency into the make-safe process, so that everyone involved can see exactly what work has been done, by whom, and its cost. The system grew organically as the needs of the businesses and agencies changed, so Caspari has used Alpha Anywhere to continually and rapidly update it.
"I don't know of any other product that would allow me to build a system this quickly, or in as flexible way as Alpha Anywhere. It allowed me to constantly adapt to the changing needs of the system as they developed."
Results/Benefits
The system was put to the test when a powerful storm hit Sydney, Australia and surrounding areas. Tens of thousands of homes were without power, there was severe flooding, and many trees and tree branches were knocked down. The system had to handle at least a 300 percent increase in its normal workload. "I anticipated this kind of event, which is why I built the load-balancing system with Alpha Anywhere," Caspari says. "I just cranked it up, and the system worked fine, without a hitch. It really raised the bar on how professionally the emergency event was handled."
Caspari says that he would not have been able to build a sophisticated system as quickly or in as an organic a manner without Alpha Anywhere.
"I don't know of any other product that would allow me to build a system this quickly, or in as flexible way as Alpha Anywhere," he says. "It allowed me to constantly adapt to the changing needs of the system as they developed."

Avis Car Rental operates one of the world's best-known car rental brands with approximately 5,500 locations in approximately 170 countries. Avis has a long history of innovation in the car rental industry and is one of the world's top brands for customer loyalty. Avis is owned by Avis Budget Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:CAR), which operates and licenses the brand throughout the world.

An owner of 30 Avis rent a car locations in northern New Jersey was looking for a better way to manage the car rental process, including customer check-in, signatures on rental contracts, communicating and synchronizing data with Avis's central mainframe computer, car fleet management, and tracking when cars are rented from one location but returned to another.
The owner contracted Alpha Software certified partner Farber Consulting Group to develop and deploy a comprehensive car rental web solution. The Farber Consulting Group provides CRM and ERP software implementation services as part of its Enterprise Applications Solution (EAS) practice. The firm also offers custom software development and services including converting Microsoft Access databases to Web-based applications that can run on the desktop or as mobile applications.

"Key to everything was Alpha Anywhere's image capabilities, because without it, we wouldn't have been able to have the signature capability, which is central to the rental process."
Solution
After analyzing the project's requirements, Doron Farber, owner of the Farber Consulting Group, chose Alpha Anywhere to build the solution, because it offered the most robust set of features compared to competitors, and allowed him to quickly build the application, including linking to the Avis mainframe and taking advantage of low-cost hardware instead of expensive, dedicated terminals and computers. "With Alpha Anywhere, you can write complex applications using only a minimum amount of code, and that was a big draw for me," he says. "Alpha also updates Alpha Anywhere regularly, so I knew that the more I used it, the more capabilities it would have over time." One of the most serious problem in the Avis's franchises' existing system was that it was difficult to update and manage, and not flexible enough by adding new features. It had been developed in C++, and required a great deal of work even when minor changes needed to be made to the application, for example, when standardized contracts were changed in Avis's central headquarters.
To solve those problems, Farber came up with the idea of building a Web-based solution using Alpha Anywhere, called the Avis Car Rental Contract Manager. With a Web-based solution, software would not have to be managed on multiple computers. Instead, only one installation on the main server was required, thus you update the code only in one area. Because the solution was Web-based, it would be easy to continually make and roll out changes and updates. "The flexibility and speed with which you can develop and make changes using Alpha Anywhere offers tremendous benefits," he says. "With it, I was able to quickly develop a system that much better met the franchises' needs."

Results/Benefits
With Alpha Anywhere, Farber put together a comprehensive car rental software system that could use off-the-shelf PCs and monitors rather than rely on expensive dedicated terminals, saving the franchise a significant amount of money in hardware outlays. "It uses PCs touchscreens for the customers renting cars," he says about the new application. "The Avis agent handles all the work on his monitor, and a second monitor facing the customer allows the customer to read the contract and sign it using a touchscreen. After a customer signs the contract, it is saved to a MS SQL database." The contract info initially is passed from the Avis main frame into MS SQL 2012 using the Multi Part MIME protocol. Which means we grab the whole contract as text while using the Alpha Anywhere capability and then we parse it into different info including the Customer name, contract number, Method of Payment, the millage and much more. At this point the data could be processed by Avis and slice and dice any info. The solution has two servers, if one goes down then the other one picks up. That also could be done using MS SQL 2012 replication capability which copied data from server A to Server B. Obviously we have another installation of Alpha Anywhere in the second server. That setup was tested when Avis had to update the main server and the entire 30 locations had to move to the backup server without any glitch whatsoever. "Key to everything was Alpha Anywhere's image capabilities, because without it, we wouldn't have been able to have the signature capability, which is central to the rental process," Farber says. "That was a crucial part of the development." Alpha Anywhere also saved Farber a great deal of time in development work. "The productivity gains I was able to get were tremendous," he says. "I would have had to devote three times the amount of time to some features if I were using some other method of development." Because the solution is a Web-based one rather than one running complex code, it is also more stable than the previous system, he says. "It launched in December, 2013, and there hasn't been a single crash since then," he says. "It is far more stable than the previous system." Farber also lauds the flexibility of Alpha Anywhere to allow him to build a mobile version of Avis Car Rental Contract Manager, as the Avis franchises  leverage tablets and phones. And without Alpha Anywhere, he says, he would not have been able to build a system that met Avis's needs so quickly and at a low cost. "Alpha Anywhere was central to everything," he says. "With it, I was able to deliver Avis exactly what they wanted, and at the right price."
With the new Alpha Anywhere digital ink control, the Farber Consulting Group, Inc. easily updated the Avis car rental project. Performance increased at least 100 times more and Avis can store each car rental contract as an SVG file, basically a very small text string. Read how this was accomplished.

As with most manufacturing companies, Oxford Superconducting Technology, has a corrective and preventive action (CAPA) system to identify and fix any issues in its manufacturing process, and to institute safeguards to prevent these problems from occurring again. Oxford Superconducting Technology was managing the second part of this system—preventive action—with a legacy application built in Microsoft Access.
The company was experiencing scalability and performance issues with the application, and needed to migrate the back-end from Access's workgroup-class database to a robust enterprise SQL database. The migration, however, introduced a whole new set of problems, because the old Access front-end didn't map well to the SQL fields on the new back-end. Complicating this, company officials decided the time was right to modernize the application to take advantage of the web and, ultimately, mobile devices.
The organization wanted a contemporary cloud-based system that would let shop floor workers reliably manage preventive action efforts directly from their tablets as well as desktops. Raising the stakes even higher, company officials set a two-month deadline to prototype and produce the new B2B mobile enterprise app.

Solution
Leading the project was Oxford Superconducting Technology's Business Analyst Sagrika Mehta. While Mehta holds a computer science degree, she focused her career on IT analysis rather than programming. She started to work on scoping the project as a citizen developer, and estimated the app build would require a large team of skilled programmers and lots of late-night man hours. Hearing this, a colleague recommended Alpha Anywhere. Mehta downloaded the  Alpha Anywhere low-code app development platform from Alpha Software's site and started playing around with the low-code app development IDE.
To her surprise, in just two days she had prototyped three mission-critical forms. She leaned back in her chair and realized Alpha Anywhere could get Oxford Superconducting Technology on the fast track to launching their new preventive action app, and at a substantial cost savings to boot.

When Mehta unveiled the app, her colleagues told her she should get a "Best Programmer Award" for her amazing results building the app. Alpha Anywhere let Mehta—a non-developer—create the enterprise-class B2B mobile business app Oxford Superconducting Technology needed with a single code base that meets 100% of the company's front- and back-end requirements, including support for tablets, smartphones, laptops, and desktops, as well as Microsoft SQL Server. Replacing the old Access database would have taken two to three months and multiple developers to build, yet it took one developer just 30 days with Alpha Anywhere, beating the project's deadline by half.
Thirty Oxford Superconducting Technology workers now use the app to easily and securely manage preventive action efforts from wherever they are on the shop floor, using tablets, continuing to ensure the company upholds its strict manufacturing policies and procedures. In fact, Mehta's success prompted Oxford Superconducting Technology to migrate several other applications to Alpha Anywhere, expanding the platform into a core piece of the company's IT infrastructure across multiple operational areas.

As energy costs continue to rise, and the world looks for ways to combat climate change, the energy rating industry for homes and businesses has been changing from a sometimes sleepy backwater to a central part of the way real estate is bought, managed and maintained.
That means the industry needs to digitally transform itself, so it can more quickly, accurately and inexpensively calculate the HERS energy index for buildings, which is the equivalent of the MPG rating for cars. But that’s easier said than done. Many rating companies have a difficult time making the switch from old paper-based inspections to digital ones.
The Building Engineering Company found itself stuck processing paper forms, says Darol Harrison, principal engineer and CEO of the company, and was looking for a solution. Inspectors, he notes, have to capture a tremendous amount of data on paper, working under very difficult conditions, sometimes in attics during summers at temperatures upwards of 130 degrees. After that, the data needs to be transferred to the company’s internal systems, which takes a considerable amount of time, often 100 hours of work for 50 houses. The primary problem he faced was that no existing mobile app available for energy rating could create a custom app capable of working online and office and with time saving features such as barcode scanning, picture annotation and speech-to-text input would take a consideration amount of time and expense.
Field workers have increased inspection throughput, improved data accuracy and made the data available to the company’s systems immediately.
Solution
Harrison took matters into his own hands and turned to the full Alpha platform to solve the problem. He used Alpha Transform to mobilize the data capture process. Using it, he quickly built a mobile app to replace paper forms. The app auto-populates forms, speeding data collection in the field on a mobile device, and adds images, mapping and more, speeding the inspection process while increasing the accuracy of data captured.
With Alpha TransForm, the Company's raters/inspectors have increased inspection throughput, improved data accuracy and made the data available to the company’s systems immediately. Integrating data to backend systems and third-party software, and to flexibly output the data into pre-defined forms is key to his company’s mobile transformation, he says, and that’s where Alpha Transform really paid off.

The inspection app built with Alpha TransForm resulted in a total savings of 1 - 1.5 hours of time savings per house inspection.
Results/Benefits
The benefits of Building Engineering's new inspection apps have been dramatic. Results include on-site savings of 30 minutes per house and office time savings of 30 to 60 minutes per house – leading to a total savings of between one and one and a half hours per house. For his largest clients Harrison expects to save between 40 and 60 man hours per week. And it’s helping him build a new recurring-revenue SaaS business.

Business Challenge: Faster Construction Inspection
The Company used a paper and clipboard process when inspecting equipment or construction sites. While investing in tablets was cost prohibitive for the company, utilizing employees smartphones was a great opportunity to improve the speed and accuracy of data collection. The company also saw an opportunity to reduce paper and manual data entry staffing costs.
Company management used mobile devices for approvals, for reviewing financial documents and sales dashboards. With virtually every construction worker and building inspection carrying a smartphone in their pocket, management believed the time was right to leverage the power of smartphones for quality control and quality assurance. They sought to better manage projects, building inspections, punch lists and other construction activities. The company did not have an in-house IT team, so the management team tasked Supervisor Kevin H. with exploring the options and determining where to begin.
After reading about how other construction companies were leveraging workers' smartphones to collect site inspection data, including building codes, Kevin decided to begin with one of the most critical data capture efforts for the company: site and equipment inspections. Kevin has no development or IT experience and he expected to have to buy an app or hire a development firm to do the work. Unfortunately, the company had not allocated any special funds for an app and he was skeptical he could find the right solution within his budget..

Solution: Mobile Construction Inspection App
Kevin accepted bids from development firms, and evaluated forms products that had inspection forms.  Immediately it was clear that using a development firm was outside of his budget.  He looked at several forms products that could capture the data his company required, but he quickly discovered they were not valid options for several reasons.
First, these vendors' products could not capture the rich mobile data his company required offline. This was a major problem, because often a cell signal or WiFi are not available on new construction sites.
Second, these projects had limited ability to capture video and image files, and none of the images could be marked-up with inspectors' notes.  For inspections, taking images and annotating issues and areas of concern was a requirement.
Finally, the vendors could save the data in XLS or cloud databases, but he needed to get the data from the inspections back into his company's systems of record to make moving to mobile truly efficient for the organization.
He came across Alpha Software when researching "apps in minutes" and after seeing a reasonable price on the company's website, decided to give Alpha TransForm a trial.
As part of his trial, Kevin built his first inspection app -- complete with image capture with annotation, GPS capture, inspector signature capture, etc. - in minutes. While he could have started with a TransForm inspection sample app, Tom crafted his app based off the form his company used so he could directly map the to his company's format and process.
TransForm automatically optimized his fields for one-handed data collection on a smartphone, including one-click pass/fail, customized keyboards (for example, when only numerals are required). "In minutes, I had a professional looking app running on my own smartphone."
Kevin watched two additional 10-minute tutorials to understand how to quickly add his company's logo and brand the app. His new inspection app tested and deployed through Alpha Cloud within days. Integration capabilities within Alpha allowed Kevin to connect the app to the company's existing systems with very little effort.
"Before our trial was over, 3 inspectors had already used the app successfully," he explained.
The TransForm data collection app has collapsed inspection turnarounds, decreased paper and data-entry costs, and dramatically increased data accuracy and depth.
Benefits of Faster Construction Inspection
Kevin reports that inspectors love the new construction app.
Building inspectors are able to quickly meet more inspection requests. They can collect images and video that couldn't be captured in the previous paper process.
Corporate is pleased with the results because problems arising from inspections are noted THAT DAY. This has dramatically reduced lags in the company's inspection and project sign-off processes. The company is also covered should any issues arise because the data is all captured and logged securely in its corporate systems.
The site inspection app has been so successful at speeding final inspections that Kevin has already started work on mobilizing the company's equipment inspection processes. "I'm rolling out our second app now. I'm working with our team to build out our first equipment inspection app and I plan to have that one completed and in use this month. I couldn't be happier with the results and the price."

Glacier Water Services Inc. owns and operates over 24,000 water and ice vending machines across North America. It's the world leader in water vending. For over 30 years, they've served as a valuable resource for great tasting, economical water in thousands of neighborhoods. The Company's water machines provide people everywhere with great tasting water that they refill themselves. For doing just a little work, their customers can save a lot of money.
Now they also provide ice, using machines that handle production and bagging right in the store. Their customers can also feel good that, by refilling their own bottle with Glacier Water, they're helping to keep plastic waste out of landfills, and taking delivery trucks off the road. And buying ice from Glacier means they're reducing the number of refrigerated trucks required to stock ice in their store.

Glacier Water needed an affordable fast field app that could standardize and speed the process of qualifying, signing up, and onboarding new customers; and placing their water and ice machines in new locations.
This field app solution needed to improve the productivity for some 400 sales and field service staff that sell, install, and service its 24,000 water and ice dispensing machines across North America. It had to allow field technicians to perform data collection quickly and work in areas without broadband or WiFi networks. And it had to be compatible across mobile platforms without maintaining multiple applications or incurring costly maintenance expenses.
Lastly, the cost of delivery and deployment had to be less than that of off-the-shelf workflow products and field service management software.

Solution
Using Alpha Anywhere, Glacier Water was able to design, develop, debug, and deploy a new custom field service app in a mere six months—about 5 to 10 times faster than was possible had they used Microsoft Access, Visual Studio, or another RMAD platform.Alpha Anywhere's ability to create mobile forms and lookup lists let Glacier Water rapidly create a fast field app with one codebase. The app meets all front-end to back-end requirements, including support for tablets, smartphones, laptops, and desktops; and SQL Server.
Adding sophisticated capabilities was easy using Alpha Anywhere's abundant collection of components, wizards, builders, and smart "coding optional" code generation. Each new feature dynamically adapts to the device it's being run on, without having to develop separate native front ends and back-end interfaces. Most importantly, Alpha Anywhere's built-in support for Adobe PhoneGap and disconnected operation meant Glacier Water's developers didn't waste thousands of hours programming these crucial abilities; and can natively integrate with iOS, Android, the App Store, and the Play Store.

Glacier Water affected true digital transformation by using Alpha Anywhere to develop a sophisticated sales team field application with a highly responsive design. The application lets the sales team pre-qualify customers using a simple form that works uniformly on any device, whether that's a Windows PC or a mobile iOS, Android, or BlackBerry device.
The application supports integration of attachments and other required items to the main form, which is then digitally submitted for approval. Using the same workflow app, the customer is reviewed, approved, processed, and delivered to the operational side so their new water vending machine can be placed.
The new mobile app has "taken a lot of the non-value-add rework out of the process." And thanks to Alpha Anywhere's built-in disconnected capability, Glacier Water's field workers will  be able to work, even when a mobile or other network connection is poor or lost. When the connection returns, the application will automatically synchronize changes in the cloud.

Its gross carrier sales are approximately $20 million annually, and its net is approximately $3 million in annual commissions from the carriers for which it sells.

CTG3 uses sales agents to check and compare prices and services of business telecommunications services, such as from Comcast Charter, Century Link, and Frontier, and then recommend the best services to business customers. To provide the service, CTG3 leveraged an application built with Microsoft Access that allowed its agents to take orders and perform tasks, such as checking customers' statuses. The Access application served as a front end to a backend Microsoft SQL Server database. In order to grow, the company decided to launch two new projects. First, CTG3 wanted to replace that desktop application with a Web portal so that its agents could more easily do their work anywhere the Internet is available. Second, CTG3 wanted to build a new consumer service, CarrierFinder.Net, that would allow consumers to check what telecommunications services are available anywhere in the United States.
"That's why I turned to Alpha Anywhere—it was a great fit and was the closest thing I could find to Access for the Web. It let me build what I wanted with very little work."
Solution
Microsoft Access cannot build Web sites and does not have a mobile solution, so CTG3 President Dave Laskowski had to look elsewhere for a way to modernize his existing application. Laskowski is an experienced developer but needed to spend as much time possible running and growing his business rather than writing code. So he turned to Alpha Anywhere to build the portal.
"Web programming has always been frustrating to me, there are so many different things going on. That's why I turned to Alpha Anywhere—it was a great fit and was the closest thing I could find to Access for the Web. It let me build what I wanted with very little work, so that I could turn my attention to sales, marketing, and other core parts of my business." Laskowski started by building the customer-facing and partner-facing portion of the Web portal using Alpha Anywhere, and connecting it to the SQL Server database. "Alpha Anywhere was perfect for that," he says. "I was easily able to build the modules I needed and had the entire thing up and running fast." Once he saw how easily he was able to create a portal, he turned his attention to CarrierFinder.Net. He had built an initial version using PHP, but the Yahoo API he used was proving to be problematic. So he used Alpha Anywhere to build the site. "With Alpha Anywhere, I was able to build CarrierFinder more quickly and with much less effort than I expected," he says. In the future he plans to build a mobile app for CarrierFinder using Alpha Anywhere, and may build other mobile apps for CTG3 with it as well.

Alpha Anywhere saved CTG3 significant amounts of money, helped launch its projects more quickly, and added features that weren't previously possible with Microsoft Access or PHP.
"For CarrierFinder.Net, if you look at all that needed to be done, including the mapping, the APIs, and the parsing, at a minimum it would have taken several different kinds of programmers to do everything," Laskowski says. "Normally people who do this kind of work don't have the expertise to both design the user interface and do the backend. You wouldn't expect me to be able to do all that because my full-time job is running the company and I do programming only part time. But with Alpha Anywhere I was able to build the site myself. It would have cost me $50,000 to hire outside programmers to do all the work that I did on my own." He was also able to launch the site more quickly than if he had used outside programmers, so he was able to shorten his time to market. And with Alpha Anywhere, he regularly upgrades the site with new features without have to pay outside developers. His company saw similar savings by using Alpha Anywhere to build the internal portal for sales agents. He had initially begun using CRM software to write the portal, but it was proving too unwieldy and expensive to do it that way. "I probably spent $20,000 with not much to show for it," he remembers. I became very frustrated trying to make the CRM system do what I wanted. Then I realized that I could do what I needed quickly with Alpha." The openness of Alpha Anywhere was also a big plus, he says, because it didn't lock him into a single vendor's platform. "The CRM vendor had abandoned the platform I was on," he recalls. "The platform was basically dead. With these kinds of CRM applications, you put a lot of time into trying to get them to work, but they never work the way you want. And then you're locked into their platform. That's not the case with Alpha." He also lauds the help and support he gets from Alpha. "Not only is the product very good, but the support you get is outstanding," he says. "The documentation and the videos are excellent. I also use Alpha mentoring and am very happy with the support provided. Whenever I have a question, the people at Alpha are always there to help."
If I had used a tool rather than Alpha Anywhere, it would have taken me twice as long to launch Fast Mirror, and possibly miss a market opportunity.

Business Challenge
Much of the work done by Hayat Communications relies on its employees doing field work in multiple countries. The company wanted to improve its efficiency and field team productivity by building a field services software platform that combines a mobile app with a back-office application. The company was looking for a field services solution that would:
Improve productivity by replacing an ad-hoc voice/instant messaging communications system with one that helped staff more accurately dispatch and manage work assignments.
Give database access to field teams so they can get site and asset information, inventory availability, work requirements, and work history rapidly and dependably.
Relieve the back-office workload by allowing data to be accurately captured in the field. The Company believed this would greatly improve efficiency and data accuracy because data would be captured by the staff doing the work onsite in the field, not by supervisors in a different location, hours or days after the site visit.
Improve reporting accuracy and reduce time required to prepare reports by consolidating all field team activity data in a central database with easy-to-use analytics capabilities.
Improve customer service by providing real-time status updates, instead of taking hours or days to collect and consolidate data requested by customers about activities in the field.

Solution
Hayat Communications created a document outlining the system's requirements based on a comprehensive audit of requirements by multiple departments and current projects in all the countries in which the business operates. Based on the document and additional research, Hayat decided to develop the solution itself, using a Rapid Mobile Application Development (RMAD) platform. It compared RMAD solutions from a number of field service app vendors and found that Alpha Anywhere was the best suited for the project. "Alpha Anywhere ticked all the boxes," says Nikos Kazantzis, Group Head of Systems Integration for Hayat Communications. "It offered numerous out-of-the-box advantages, of which offline-capability on mobile devices was the most significant --- most other platforms didn't have that capability built-in." Kazantzis adds that two other elements made Alpha Anywhere stand out: It offered end-to-end development capability (including server, client, mobile, and database), and it would allow Hayat to build a significant amount of the platform using GUI-based tools with little or no coding. Hayat had outside expert developers build and test core components, business logic and functions, but most other work was built by Hayat staff using Alpha Anywhere. "Having us work this way put immense power in our hands, because we had many different project requirements in different countries and regions," Kazantzis says. "With Alpha Anywhere, we could quickly adapt to specific needs in each geographic area." Development went quickly. Within the first month, Hayat had built its first demo, including a mobile app, for a major fixed/wireless network operator. Within six months, the system was operational across more than 6,000 sites with 300 users. Six months after that, the system had doubled in size. "We couldn't have built something this large and sophisticated this quickly with any other platform," Kazantzis says. "It was a tremendous time-saver, and let us build exactly the solution we had envisioned."
The finished system, named CMRI, (Computerized Maintenance, Rollout and Inventory) supports the full range of Hayat operations, including the following modules and capabilities:
Request management: Similar to a Help Desk module, including tracking tickets, with live SLA tracking
Work orders: The core element, which includes all data related to an activity on a site
Personnel management and dispatching: Location- and user-status based, notifications on mobile devices, complete access to data from field, user-tracking capability
Task planning: Schedulers, bulk updates, calendar views
Inventory management: Including field-level tracking – including vehicles in warehouse
Asset management
Reporting: Live dashboards as well as pre-configured or customized reviews of work, activities and materials

We developed a full end-to-end system including servers, clients, mobile, and databases, with offline capabilities, more quickly and at less cost than if we had used another system."
Results/Benefits
With Alpha Anywhere-created CMRI, Hayat has gained significant benefits, including increased productivity, improved dispatching and field management, increased accuracy, and better customer service. Hayat also saved significantly on licensing costs. "With Alpha Anywhere our cost was not directly dependent on the number our users or sites," Kazantzis says. "Typically, software vendors in our sector charge ‘per user' or ‘per site' license fees, and sometimes both. Because Alpha Software doesn't charge that way, we saved a tremendous amount of money, particularly as we expand its use." With CMRI, work is assigned, managed and logged through one system, instead of multiple ones as was done previously. Accessing data, all the way from a single work order up to a global summary takes only a few mouse clicks. Anyone with the right permissions can access part or all of the data and reports instantly. Previously, getting a daily report took hours, and had involved all department heads. Unnecessary phone calls and instant messages have been minimized – only emergencies now require calling. Because field workers update their status on a live basis, the company now better knows the status of its work in the field. Workers spend less idle time because people are assigned to work according to live metrics, leading to improved productivity. Customer service and customer relationships have been dramatically improved. Customer requests are answered on the spot, and customers can see the location of field technicians. Customers can also see all the data about work done by Hayat on their jobs, including time-stamps for when work was done. Summing up the benefits of Alpha Anywhere, Kazantzis says, "Thanks to Alpha Anywhere, we built a comprehensive system spanning countries and departments that has saved us time and money, lets us operate more efficiently, and improves our relationship with our customers."

Business Challenge
The oil drilling company needed help building a system for capturing and tracking maintenance and inspection processes for its facilities in the North Sea. Because of the extreme conditions in which the facilities operate, the company could not rely on standard data-capture software that relies on Internet connectivity. The company was using an Excel spreadsheet to track daily maintenance activities, but that process was far from ideal. It required a great deal of manual labor — maintenance staff and inspectors had to write down the information on a clipboard while they were performing maintenance, then key the information into a computer and input all the information into the spreadsheet.
Employees had to input the data row by row, column by column, and enter the proper codes for each individual maintenance activity. All this meant that staff spent a great deal of time in manual work. In addition, there were errors when data was input.

Solution
Guth has used many tools during his twenty years as a developer, but chose Alpha Anywhere to develop the mobile inspection app because of the ease with which it creates mobile forms, its ability to write a mobile app once and deploy it to multiple mobile devices, and its ability to create tablet-based forms. "Alpha Anywhere was ideal for me," he says. "I needed to build an offline enterprise-class app that would work on both smartphones and tablets, that lets me create tablet-optimized forms, that takes a low-code approach to app creation, and that could take advantage of cameras built into phones and tablets." Guth took a two-stage approach to creating the inspection solution. He built a Microsoft Access database to put on the computer on the drilling platform, which would store all of the maintenance information. (The database automatically synchronized to a SQL Server Database, when it was in port.) He then used Alpha Anywhere to create an offline mobile app, designed for tablets and smartphones that would allow workers on the oil platform to record maintenance information, and update the database via Wi-Fi.
The inspection checklist app also allows field workers to use tablets or smartphones to take photos of their maintenance work, and works offline, even when not connected to a network. The photos are automatically date-stamped. This is a foolproof way to show inspection management exactly what work was done, and to verify when it was done. Also part of the app is a signature block so that the workers can sign the forms, an additional means of verification.

Results/Benefits
Guth says that he was able to write the maintenance and inspection solution in only four days. The offshore company had talked with other developers about writing the app, and all said it would take far longer and cost far more money than what Guth was able to charge because of his use of Alpha Anywhere. "I used Alpha Anywhere's low-code approach to writing the app," he explains. "I delivered a full app in only four days. And that includes writing, testing and implementing the app. I couldn't have done that with any other tool." Also useful, he says, is that he was able to build the app once, and then deploy it securely to both phones and tablets without having to do additional work. The offshore company has reaped significant benefits from the field app. They were able to spend less money for it, and get it faster, because Guth used Alpha Anywhere to create it. In addition, the accuracy of their maintenance information and inspection reports have improved.
Because the app captures photos of maintenance work, the company can send photos of equipment to vendors documenting the issues that were found, or showing parts that need to be ordered. And the company can use the app to improve maintenance. They are now able to track failure rates in specific parts, and based on that perform maintenance more frequently on them. "Alpha Anywhere did a great job for both me and for the offshore company," Guth says. "I was able to build the app quickly, and they've gotten significant benefits from better data collection."

Start Software had developed their successful and mature Tracker asbestos system as a desktop Windows software product.  Customers, new & old, were starting to ask whether it was possible to operate the system via the web or on mobile devices.  The search was on for a software development environment which could deliver this technological step-change and, after reviewing the market, they chose Alpha Anywhere to make it happen.
After reviewing the market, Start Software chose Alpha Anywhere to make it happen.
Solution
Early versions of Alpha Tracker were developed to pilot at client sites alongside their existing Tracker systems.  Both systems could share the same SQL database, so clients could move between the old desktop system and the new web-based system at will. This approach meant that Start Software didn’t have to deliver all Tracker functionality from day 1 – Start Software consultants could start small and build on a solid foundation of features.
Start Software developers found that many concepts in Alpha Anywhere mirrored those in the Microsoft development products the team had previously used (Access & Visual Basic, in particular). This helped Start Software developers get up to speed quickly and Alpha Software’s legendary software and developer relationships meant that help was never far away.

An international rental car company with more than 1000 locations throughout the United States and Europe hired SWK Systems to build a fleet management app.
SWK Systems is a Systems Integrator, Vertical Market Software Developer, Consultant, Microsoft Cloud Partner, Office 365 Partner, and an Excel/Quickbooks Integrator. The organization has done work for many clients, including for U.S. Postal Service Vehicle Maintenance Facilities, with 80 locations from Massachusetts to California.

Business Challenge
An international car rental company had locations throughout southern New Jersey that needed to have cars moved from outlet to outlet, depending on the vehicle demand at any particular time. For example, one outlet may have a shortage of SUVs for the following day, while another outlet has a number of SUVs unreserved for the next day. To match local demand to available vehicles, employees and part-time staff drive cars between locations. Typically, a single driver will drop staff off at outlets, then pick them up after they've moved the cars to their destinations. Because there are so many of the rental locations distributed in a wide area, it can be difficult for drivers to know the best route for driving from location to location. The rental company was looking for a mobile app to run on multiple platforms that would show drivers the best route to take. Kenyon Sprankle, owner of SWK systems and part time driver for the rental company built the app.

Solution
SWK Systems chose Alpha Anywhere because of its ability to build powerful, feature-rich apps on multiple platforms quickly and efficiently. Kenyon Sprankle, owner, SWK Systems explains, "The beauty of Alpha Anywhere is that you're not device-dependent when you're building a mobile app. You build it once and then deploy it to multiple platforms. That not only makes it easy to create the app for the first time, but for updates and maintenance as well." Sprankle adds that once you've built the framework for one mobile app, you can re-use it to build others, cutting development time even further. That's what he did with the mobile app for the car rental company. Previously, he had built a mobile app for another enterprise client. He tapped into the SQL database he had built for it and used that as the backend for the car rental app. And he re-used some of the framework and code from it for the app itself. "Because of that, I only spent between two and three hours building the app, including backend work," he says. "It probably took me longer to type in the names and addresses of the rental locations than it took to build the app itself. If I used another tool, I would have had to spend much more time creating the mobile apps." He says that it would take an app developer using traditional tools six weeks to build an app of similar complexity.
"With Alpha Anywhere, it only took me between two and three hours to build mobile apps for iOS and Android devices — and that time includes backend work on a SQL database. I don't know of any other development platform that lets you build enterprise-level mobile apps in such a short amount of time."
Results/Benefits
Sprankle built mobile apps for both iOS and Android devices using Alpha Anywhere. The apps are particularly helpful for new drivers who don't know the locations of the car rental locations in southern New Jersey. With it, when they're at one outlet and need to drive to another, they can quickly find its locations and get directions to it. "What they get is not just a basic Google map," he explains. "It shows all of the rental locations in southern New Jersey. Drivers can click and find the name and address of any location, as well as the specific car rental ID associated with it. The driver can then find the easiest and most direct route by putting that information into their device's GPS." The app saves employee's time because they can drive to their locations far more quickly than previously. And it saves the car rental company money because its employees spend less time and mileage driving cars between locations. "Alpha Anywhere was a big win for everyone on this project," he says. "Because of it, I was able to build the apps very quickly, the drivers spend less time on the road, and the car rental company sees improved productivity."
